Bottle Tops Bottle Tops Bottle Tops

Here's some information that I received this week...it's very close to my heart. Some of you may be aware of the Recycling page on my website.  There are also a number of blog posts here about recycling.

Plastic bottle tops are one of the top ten items found during beach cleanups. As estimated 100, 000 marine mammals and turtles are killed by plastic litter every year around the world.

Some parents from Beaumaris North Primary School in Victoria, Australia, as part of the 2012 "Come Play With Us" BNPS Fete and Playscape Project, are asking students, staff and their families to start collecting plastic bottle tops. All plastic bottle tops are to be saved, washed and then placed into the Playscape Recycling Depot in the school office foyer. Please, no lids from NUT products.

One Fete Day, the bottle tops will be used to make recycled art as well as creating a large school mural. The BNPS Plastic Bottle Top target is 10,000 lids! Think of all the animals that could live happily without plastic in their environment.
